Decorate: 1,000 Design Ideas for Every Room in Your Home Reviews
It's obvious that this original and vibrant book was designed with great craft and care to be useful to the apartment dweller or home-owner who is looking for direction on where to begin in decorating their space. The following styles are highlighted: simple, natural, modern, flea-market, colorful, floral, eclectic and modern glamour style. There are helpful guidelines in how to create each of these styles in a home. In "Attention to Detail" you'll see accessorizing tips for mirrors, lighting, pillows, flowers and table settings.
I love this decorating book! So many ideas that spur my inner creative designer. I especially like that it shows you how to use the stuff you already have which is great in this economy and for those of us who are trying to reduce the size of the ever growing mountain of garbage. The fact that the techniques urge you to bring out your own style just makes it that much better. I love when I go to someones home and feel their personality conveyed through their surroundings. I am able to connect in a deeper way. I also enjoy seeing all of the DIY possibilities. It will take months and months of savoring this book before I absorb it all!
Absolutely love this decorator book. It's been looked through many times, and I keep it as a "Coffee Table" book on display, love it!
Becker and Copestick provide a visual guide to interior design complemented by drawings and text. Their chapters on the use of natural and reclaimed materials for accenting home interiors are practical and achievable. I especially enjoyed their presentation of collections and collectables. I was pleased at the price of the book, happy with the photos, appreciative of the real-world floor plans, and delighted with the advice. Becker and Copestick have created an affordable and desirable "best in class" book on interior design. Becker's and Copestick's book is a valuable "bring - along" on my iPad for my various expeditions as I search local markets, salvage yards, second - hand stores, IKEA, and upscale design centers in search of the unique (within my budget). There is something here for everyone - the classic is presented right alongside the innovative and original.
I really enjoyed this book. I read a lot of design books and magazines each month and this one set a different tone. I think it's a fantastic resource for the home owner who wants to transform their space. The thoughtful layout out helps walk you through the basics of starting a project; planning your space, understanding the architecture of the room, room-by-room examples and ideas, and attention to details. It's filled with creative ideas that make you re-think what you already own, shop the high end stores and plan a trip to the flea market and even look to your own garden for ideas. The directory in the back of the book gives pages of design resources and products to help guide your project and the beautiful photography and inspirational quotes throughout the book were a nice treat.
As an artist I own many books on home decor. Most of them I flip through looking for a photograph that is useful for a current project, but
This book is not a readable. It is like a scrap book littered with quotes and snippets. Don't expect a coherent reading thread or in-depth discussions.
